Post #7 The Social Media in China

     We've already led by the professor to learn the social media in US and their background stories for nearly a semster. It is a wide view for me to know these world famous and popular social media. During this semester, sometimes when professor introduced us a US social media, I felt like meeting it in somewhere and sometime but I just cannot remember it immediately, is it déjà vu？I am not sure. However one thing I can make sure is these things they are real existed and I literally used and saw them. They are the same function social media in China.
     We have our google which called Baidu. There is a fashion sentence in an American movie I've seen it is said "if you don't know sth, just google it " while on Baidu's main page it is written in Chinese which means"Click on Baidu, you will get what you want to know." The owner of Baidu is Yanhong Li, who onced graduated from a US university and worked in an IT company the Sillicon Valley for couple years. After that, he came back to China and create Baidu.
     We have our facebook which called RenRen. It is said that the creator was inspired by Mark Zuckerburg and created RenRen. Now it has been the No.1 social network in China. Almost every Chinese student who surf on the internet has their own account on RenRen. I still remember when I just enter in the university in 2006, there were few people knew this site. I was told by my roommate who said he can find his middle school classmate on that, it made me to decide log on it and I really find some long time no contact friends which made me feel excited. Later I introduced it to the people I knew. Now it is not a surprise that when you log on  it found a old friend send you a friend apply because everyone use RenRen. It has the same function and layout as Facebook has. Now it is not only a simple site to find your old friends, it become a  second world for the people who has it to live.
     We have our twitter which called Sina Microblog. The reason why it become such popular I guess is that after 2008, some incidents happened in our country made the government change its policy on the media. There are more censorship for the internet information since 2008. I still remember I heard twitter and facebook in that year and I viewed them logged on them, I even used twitter for a consecutive days after I logged on it. However, some day I found I cannot log on it and facebook anymore. Two years later, Sina Microblog become the most popular microblog in China, we call it the Chinese Twitter.
     We have our youtube called Youku. It is also a video streaming site that you can upload your own video clips to share with your friends. Now it is more popular to see the TV dramas and the movies there.
     In a word, the social media in China as the same as here, US is the origin place that social media was born, we learned these from here and introduce to more people. Hope one day we can use our brand social media and the origin social media simultaneously.

Post #6 Theme parks contemplate

     When we related to the theme park, I guess we can not ignore American--the origin place of theme park. There are many famous theme parks in American, most of them are known for all over the world such as Disney land, Universal Studio, Sea World and so on, some of them even open their theme parks out of the country. Every theme park have its own characters and culture. For example, Universal is one of the most famous movie company, its theme park filled with the elements of the movie produced by Universal, the role play movie characters wandering in the park make jokes with the tourist and lots of rides, shows based on the movie scene made the tourists feel happy and excited. Theme park not only bring the enormous revenue to the movie produce company, but also provide a platform for the people who like the movie and curious how to make the movie, it is indeed a mutual gain business model.
     I went to Universal Studio Hollywood and Universal Studio Orlando in different times. Compare these two same brand theme parks  in different, the city where it is located can make a good explain for what they have. As known for the movie center, universal studio in Hollywood have more experience about the movie while the one in Orlando have more rides. Hollywood universal studio have a nature connection to the movie industry, one of the most famous ride in it is the studio tour, it will show you how to make movies and some special effect in the movie. In addition, it will show you the real stages which is belong to Universal movie company, they are the real places that the movie is born. However, universal Orlando are filled with the rides related to the movies, they will take you into the movie no matter use the rollar coster or the shooting game. Personally, I prefer the one in Hollywood, you can know the story behind the screen. The one in Orlando is only for fun but decorated with the movie character.
     No matter where it is, it always can bring you the happiness, theme parks have already been a mainstream model of contemporary entertainment. The mature business opreation and the a complete industry chain gurantee its success right now and in the future.

Post #5 A Meaningful Night in Mabee Library

On March 26 the Monday night, I got this week assignment as a student media photographer, I was asked to go to Mabee Library to take photo with the decoration of a painting show. It is the show with a lot of paintings crated by the children from all over the world, I saw the paintings from Russia and Kenya. Although these paintings are just drawn by children, the title and content are associated with a lot of aspects in the world, such as the environment protection, animal protection, outer space discovery and the future life. Not only the content of the paintings are colorful, but also the material of the paintings are also filled with diversity. Some of them made from cloth while some of them made from the stone and the little glass. Sketches, oil painting, watercolor painting, collage painting and so on, these made the show like a beautiful graden with the different fragrant. The children's pure true heart and imaginative viewpoints is reflected obviously on these paintings, which made us have a smile from the heart after seeing it. After 3 hours' work, we made the library study ground more fresh. I was happy with the colorful paintings and a new environment of our library.

Post #4 Think about the Apple Effect

The people wait for the new Iphone Beijing

    
     This week on Wednesday March 7, Apple released its "Revolutionary new Ipad". It is hard to say from what time everytime Apple released its new productions like Iphone and Ipad, it becomes one of the most important news in the world. Furthermore, for the fans of Apple, it is more like their most expected day in the year. In American, there are many people stand out of the Apple store wait to buy the new product. In China, things turned to crazy, the crowd mixed with the real fans and the scalpers filled with the square in front of the store, even more the scalpers had conflict with the secrity of the store which led to Apple claimed stop selling Iphone4s for a while. The most ironical things that I read is about a coach take a group of people went to the Apple store Shanghai, they jumped out of the car with the united colour on their heads, people around all thought they are the tourists of a travel agency, however, they are a company hired scalpers who would wait for the new Iphone4s.
     These crazy phenomena have raised a heated discussion in China. Why people are so crazy for the Apple productions, how Apple made their productions so successful and so on?  I am also one of the people don't understand and really want to know. Now it seems that I have some ideas about this question. Befor the Ipad 3 released, I saw a bunch of news referred to the recations of people to Ipad 3. It is reported that half of the people in American will buy the new Ipad and the army announced to spend 800,000 dollars on Ipad 3 purchase. There so many supports to the new Ipad come from its own country people! Nevertheless, our country's people seemed more conservative on supporting our own brand products. We always think things come from the developed countries are better than us. We have our own brand clothes, automobiles, cellphones and computers, but they are in the weak position of competing the western brands. The most impressive thing I remember is when a domestic IT company release a advanced tablet recently, the news of it located in a discreet part of a famous portal website technology section while the Apple and Samsung these foreigh brands took up the majority part of it. Despite that tablet also has a high definition display and a speedy processor, there are few people notice that. A brand want to go over the world, it needs to popular in the domestic and get the support of native people. We really need to do something for our own brand right now.

Post #3 Contemplate about my pictures

     It is a common Wednesday for everyone except me because it is the day that the Washburn Review published, I cannot stop seeing the latest paper and see if my picture was been used. I've been in the student media for two weeks and I've already done two assignments as well. Two pictures were used in the paper since I joined it.I like the environment in the student media, everyone is kind hearted and helpful and it is really a good chance to exercise the skill you want to improve. Besides the feelings I described above, I also have some contemplations that I want share with. It is the most important principle in photograph--The subject.
     The second picture I have taken used in the newspaper was an activity called diversity. I took the picture with two Chinese girls and a American boy in it. That was the reason I thought why they would use that photo. It displayed the diversity to some extent while diversity is the main aim for that activity. The picture should reflect the aim or the activity title. I undestood it immediately. A good picture sometimes may not a best combination of every elements in photograph, but it is certainly a obviously presentation of the subject's feature. Hold the subject or the aim of the object you will take photo it's a golden rule in photography. The contemplation of this picture now guide me to read the title of the activity at first carefully and rethink it over in order to find the key term of the activity, then focus on it during the process take the photo. I believe it will make me take more better pictures in the future. I felt encouraged all about these results and contemplations. I will keep working on it!

Post # 2, Contemplate on a photo

     Our vice president Xi , who is poised to our country's next leader, visit America this week! I searched the information around the internet about his visitation, and on February 14 I found a picutres and a piece of news about him in USAtoady.com. It is a meeting picture about Xi and Obama. Xi was facing to the lens while Obama only can be seen his back. Suppose Obama come to China visit, there will be no pictures taken and published like this. They will both face to the lens. This remind me of the difference between Chinese media and American media on national leader report.
    In China, no matter when and where, the most authoritative newspapers and news on programs always give the piority time and place to our political leader. Such as the CCTV-1 's XINWENLIANBO, whose TV rating achieved hundreds of million people. In the 30 minutes time, the list of this news program is fixed. First is our political leader news which takes up 10 to 15 minutes, then it is the political policy news which takes up 10 minutes, international news become the last and only have 5 minutes.
     In the newspaper, the first layout also will be the political leaders news. Ironically, the most impressive news that I remember it was on September 11, 2011, when the whole people of the world were shocked by the terrorist attack to the world trade center in New York city, our country's newspaper first layout was published our president news.
    The other things I remembered about this difference is last year when Obama sat in the room of the pentagon to conduct with the opreation on arresting Osama bin Laden, as the president, he just sat in the corner of the office room as a coordinator not a commandor. This picture have been taken a heated disscussion on the mainstream websites in China for cotemplating our media report policy and political policy.
     The only thing I can do is hope it will become better in the future. I saw the news said Xi has arrived in LA and he will see the Lakers game, hope he will enjoy the game.
